Student Kalen Russell Named 2018 Newman Civic Fellow — Kalen Russell, a strategic communications senior from Muskogee, Oklahoma, recently earned recognition as one of Campus Compact’s 2018 Newman Civic Fellows. The Newman Civic Fellowship is a one-year experience, emphasizing personal, professional and civic growth. ‘A Night for the Kids,’ April 4

BronchoThon will host a benefit concert, “A Night for the Kids” at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, April 4, at the Jazz Lab, 100 E. 5th St. Central’s top three jazz ensembles will perform. Tickets are $15 and will be sold at the door for cash only. All proceeds benefit the Children's Miracle Network, the only children's charity that donates 100 percent of its proceeds to local children's hospitals. View a flier.

Three Minute Thesis, April 19

The Jackson College of Graduate Studies will host a Three Minute Thesis Competition at 4 p.m. Thursday, April 19, in Room 421, Nigh University Center. The event is sponsored by Around the Corner and Othello’s Italian restaurants, and The Zu Sports Grill.

Graduate thesis students will have three minutes to explain their thesis project to a panel of local business professionals. First place prize is $1,000; second place is $500; third place is $250, and the People’s Choice Award is $250. Participants must register by Friday, March 30. Attendance is open to the public. Spring Break Extended Maintenance Period

A special extended maintenance period is scheduled from 8 a.m. Monday, March 19, until 5 p.m. Wednesday, March 21. During this time, access to UCO Services through UCONNECT will be unavailable. The planned maintenance may not extend the full three days, but the entire maintenance window is reserved. Other campus services, such as email and Learn@UCO will continue to function as normal during this maintenance period. Upon completion, a notification will be posted on the @UCOGeeks Twitter feed.

This maintenance is in addition to the regularly scheduled system maintenance from 6 p.m. Friday, March 16, until 1 a.m. Saturday, March 17.
